❄️ Last Week’s Storms Set the Stage for Epic Spring Laps
Fresh snow refreshed the mountains—now longer days and soft corn turns are taking over.
🌞 Why Spring Skiing Wins in SoCal
Spring skiing is not leftovers.
It is strategy skiing.
Here is why it shines:
✔️ Softer snow = easier edge grip
✔️ Fewer peak holiday crowds
✔️ Warm temps = lighter layers
✔️ Prime time for skill building
This is when confidence grows fast.
Soft snow forgives.
And forgiven mistakes build better skiers.
🎿 Spring Timing 101: Ski Smart
Timing is everything.
Follow this flow:
🕘 9:00 AM – Start east-facing.
🕚 11:00 AM – Shift south.
🕐 1:00 PM – Hunt west-facing terrain.
By mid-afternoon, things may get sticky.
Be early.
Be mobile.
Be smart.
Find your flow. 🌊
🧴 Wax or No Wax? Yes. Wax.
Spring snow is warm snow.
Warm snow without wax?
Slow.
Your options:
✅ DIY Warm-Temp Wax – Match the rising temps and dial it in yourself.
✅ Shop Hand Wax – Best glide and longest-lasting finish.
✅ Quick Lodge Wax – Easy on-mountain fix when you forget.
✅ Free REI Machine Wax (Members) – If you’re an REI member, many locations offer free machine waxes. They did mine in about 30 minutes. Quick. Easy.
Why bother?
🏂 Faster glide = less leg burn
🎿 Cleaner turns = better control
🛠️ Protected bases = longer ski life
💡 Pro Tip: Skiing two days? A quick mid-trip wax makes day two feel brand new.
🎉 Spring Events Heat Up
Spring is when the vibe shifts.
At Mammoth Mountain, the calendar stays busy deep into April and May .
Look for:
✔️ Weekend Après Parties
✔️ Skill Camps
✔️ The legendary Pond Skim in April
Sun. Music. Soft snow.
That is the vibe.
