Mammoth’s Open + Snow Hits SoCal Slopes

Get the scoop on early-season skiing excitement!

Hey Ski Fam,

The winter gods are smiling on us early this season! While Halloween just passed, it feels like Christmas has already come to the mountains. 🎄🎿

🌨️ Early Snowfall Sparks the Stoke

Southern California’s local slopes got their first frosty makeover on October 29, 2024. Here’s what’s got skiers buzzing:

  • Big Bear Mountain Resort: A light dusting of snow covered Snow Summit, Snow Valley, and Bear Mountain, marking the first official snowfall of the season. Sure, it’s only an inch—but it’s a sign of more powder to come!

  • Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood: Snow flurries and chilly temps are setting the stage for Thanksgiving weekend, when the lifts are expected to open. Teams are hard at work prepping for the season, and we can’t wait to carve it up.

Pro Tip: Even if there’s no skiing yet, now’s the perfect time to prep your gear, wax your skis, and dream about your first run of the year.

🎉 Mammoth Mountain: Now Open!

In case you missed the memo: Mammoth Mountain officially opened last Friday, November 15! That’s right—some lucky skiers and snowboarders have already hit the slopes. Mammoth has a solid snow base and more snow in the forecast, making it the ultimate early-season destination.

📅 Planning a trip?

  • Early bird gets the fresh powder! Arrive early to snag the best runs.

  • Don’t forget to bundle up—it’s brisk out there in high-altitude paradise.

🗺️ Why This Season Feels Extra Special

After a summer marked by heat waves and wildfire threats, seeing snow on our beloved mountains feels like a miracle. It’s more than just skiing—this is about reconnecting with nature and finding joy in the little things (like the crunch of fresh snow under your boots).

So, whether you’re gearing up for a weekend at Big Bear, Mammoth, or Mountain High, the mountains are calling, and it’s time to answer!

🏔️ What’s Next?

  • Mountain High’s Opening Day: Targeting the day after Thanksgiving. Watch for updates!

  • Big Bear Lift Tickets: Available for purchase starting November 23. Perfect for locking in your first trip of the season.
