Roads Washed Out, But the Stoke Is Still On — Happy New Year, Ski Fam!

Rain stole the roads, not the season. Let’s roll into 2026 with smart moves and fresh snow.

🎉 Happy New Year, My Mountain People 🏔️

SoCal storms hit hard — but Mammoth is loaded, and the season is young 🎿

Hey Ski Fam,

If you’re reading this, take a breath.
Stretch those legs.
And maybe double-check your tire chains.

Because yes — the mountains got hit.
But not by powder.
By rain. 🌧️
By flooding.
By mudslides.

This time, it wasn’t “snow day stoke.”
It was “whoa, where’d the road go?” 😳

🛣️ Mt. Baldy & Mountain High — Road Trouble Is Real

Here’s what actually happened:

🪨 Mt. Baldy Road at Shin Road is CLOSED.
Landslides. Mudslides. 500-foot washout.
CHP and Public Works are out there daily, but the road is not safe beyond the switchbacks.
Check Mt. Baldy’s report and Angeles National Forest alerts for live updates.

🛠️ Mountain High Road Update:
✅ Hwy 2 is open from Hwy 138, but workers are still doing repairs.
❌ Largo Vista/Big Pines Hwy remains closed.
Check Mountain High's road conditions before you roll.

📸 Bottom line:
Don’t just “go check it out.”
Respect the signs.
Let the crews do their thing.

❄️ But Up North… Mammoth Is BUZZING

While SoCal’s soaking, Mammoth is stacked:

  • ✅ 147 cm base / 234 cm summit

  • 🎿 All major lifts open

  • ❄️ Fresh snow Jan 4

  • 🏂 Terrain parks and race lanes firing

  • 💃 Après parties every weekend

It’s January heaven up there.
If you’ve got the time — make the trip.

🗓️ Mammoth Events to Know

  • Jan 11–12: Unbound Slopestyle

  • Jan 14–16: Women’s Ski & Snowboard Camp

  • Jan 18–19: Sierra Cup Races

  • Jan 27–30: Ripping Over 50 Camp

Think: stoke, sweat, and skis that do what you ask. 🔥

💡 New Year Lesson?

California skiing asks for something different.
It’s not about waking up to snow.
It’s about planning, pivoting, and sometimes waiting out the mud.

You don’t just ski here.
You earn it.

❄️ Say It With Me:

"Rain at home. Powder up north. Roads need time." 🛷
