🎿 SKI SEASON EXTENDED... AGAIN! ❄️
Fresh Snow, June Turns & One More Week Of Winter Magic
🤯 Just When You Thought It Was Over...
Most people have already put their skis away.
Not Mammoth. 😄
Just when it looked like winter was finally waving goodbye, Mother Nature tossed another surprise into the Sierra.
Fresh snow.
Again.
Mammoth picked up another 1-3 inches overnight and officially announced lifts will continue spinning through June 7. That's right.
🎿 June skiing is officially back on the menu.
For those of us who aren't quite ready for beach season, this is the best kind of problem to have. ❄️
🏔️ Winter Refuses To Leave
I had already started mentally shifting gears.
🚵 Mountain bikes.
🥾 Summer hikes.
🏕️ Camping trips.
Maybe even cleaning the garage.
Then I opened the morning snow report.
Big mistake. 😂
Now all I can think about is making one more trip to Mammoth.
Maybe two.
The mountain still has:
✅ 34 trails open
✅ 3 lifts spinning
✅ A 22-inch base
✅ Fresh snow on the ground
At this point winter feels like that friend who says goodbye three times before actually leaving.
And honestly?
❤️ I'm okay with that.
❄️ Fresh Snow Changes Everything
Let's be clear.
This isn't January powder skiing.
This is late-May skiing with a fresh layer of frosting on top.
And that can be ridiculously fun.
The new snow freshens up the mountain and makes everything feel just a little more like winter again.
But there is a catch.
⚠️ Ski Smart This Weekend
Because we're skiing in late May:
🔸 Rocks are hiding beneath the snow
🔸 Dirt patches can appear quickly
🔸 Coverage changes throughout the day
🔸 Advanced terrain only
🔸 Conditions vary hour by hour
Think of it as spring skiing with a surprise gift from Mother Nature.
🎁 Fun.
But still demanding respect.
🎿 Who Should Be Packing The Car Right Now?
This weekend is perfect for:
🔥 Advanced skiers
🔥 Snowboarders chasing bonus days
🔥 Ikon Pass holders
🔥 Anyone not emotionally prepared for summer
This is not the weekend to teach your cousin how to ski.
There is currently no beginner terrain available.
But if you're comfortable on advanced terrain?
🏆 This might become one of your favorite weekends of the entire season.
After all...
How many people get to say:
"I skied fresh snow in June."
🚵 Already Switched To Summer Mode?
No worries.
The mountains have you covered there too.
While Mammoth keeps winter alive, Big Bear Mountain Resort has officially rolled into bike season.
🚲 Snow Summit Bike Park Is Open
Current trail status:
✅ Big Ring
✅ Downtown
✅ Shotgun
✅ Smooth Operator
✅ Uptown
❌ Gopher Trail
The result?
😎 You can literally ski one weekend and mountain bike the next.
Only in California.
🚵 Why Mountain Biking Makes You A Better Skier
I've always thought mountain biking feels a lot like skiing.
You're:
✔️ Reading terrain
✔️ Choosing lines
✔️ Managing speed
✔️ Reacting quickly
✔️ Finding flow
The skills transfer better than most people realize.
Mountain biking helps build:
💪 Balance
💪 Leg strength
💪 Endurance
💪 Confidence
💪 Fast reactions
Think of it as ski training disguised as summer fun.
Don't tell your riding buddies. 😉
🎶 Mountain High Has Summer Vibes Rolling
Not everyone wants skis.
Not everyone wants bikes.
Some people just want mountain air and live music.
This Weekend At Mountain High
🎸 The Gaslighters
Saturday, May 30
5 PM - 8 PM
🥏 Mountain Meltdown Amateur Disc Golf
Saturday, May 30
🥏 Mountain Meltdown Pro Disc Golf
Sunday, May 31
Sometimes the best mountain day doesn't involve skiing at all.
Sometimes it involves a cold drink, live music, and a Sierra sunset.
❤️ Why This Weekend Matters
The thing I love most about Southern California skiing is that it never follows the rules.
People think ski season ends in April.
Then it stretches into May.
Now it's reaching into June.
Meanwhile:
🚵 Bike parks are opening.
🎶 Concerts are happening.
🥏 Disc golf tournaments are running.
🌲 Summer is arriving.
❄️ Winter is still hanging around.
And somehow it all works.
The mountains don't care what month it is.
They just keep finding ways to surprise us.
🏔️ Final Mountain Takeaway
Most people wait all year for ski season.
This year?
Ski season isn't ready to leave.
So if you've been thinking about:
🎿 One last chairlift ride
❄️ One last spring snow day
🏔️ One last mountain weekend
This may be your chance.
Because someday you'll tell people about the year Mammoth skied into June.
And you'll either say:
"I was there."
Or you'll wish you had been.
🏔️ Mountain Proverb
When the mountain gives you one more run... take it.
Find your flow. Find your people. The mountains will handle the rest. 🏔️
