Ski season's almost over. Here’s how to send your gear into hibernation 💤
Learn how to store your ski gear the right way before it's too late.

🎿THE SEASON'S END IS THE TRUE TEST OF A SKIER’S HEART💔
As fun as the beginning of the ski season is… the end is just the opposite.
Let’s just say it how it is—
The joy of early lifts and fresh flakes fades fast when the temps start rising and the resorts start closing. ❄️➡️🌼
Yes, Mammoth is still serving up some sunny spring skiing. But Mount Baldy?
They’ve already hung the “Gone Fishin’” sign. 🎣⛷️
And while we all love squeezing every last turn out of spring, there comes a time we’ve got to do the unthinkable:
Put our gear away.
(Deep sigh. Small tear. Quiet sob.)
But before you toss your boots in the garage next to your forgotten rollerblades, let’s talk about how to store your ski gear the smart way.
Because what you do now will either make or break your first run next season.
🌟STORY TIME: HOW I LEARNED THE HARD WAY🌟
One April, I stuffed my skis in a dusty corner of my closet.
Boots still had trail mix crumbs in them (don’t ask). Goggles? MIA.
Next season rolled around and…
Mildew. Rust. A cracked lens. My favorite baselayer smelled like ski lodge hot wings.
That day, I made a vow.
Never again would I disrespect my gear.
Not after all the good times we’ve had together.
HERE’S YOUR GEAR STORAGE SURVIVAL PLAN 💼🛠️
Let’s keep it clean. Keep it dry. Keep it ready to rip.
Here’s the full scoop on putting your ski stuff to bed—the right way.
🧼 1. CLEAN IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT
Dirty gear is sad gear. Dirt attracts moisture. Moisture ruins everything.
Skis: Wipe ‘em down. Remove any gunk. Dry completely.
Boots: Pull liners out. Let them air dry 24 hours. Vacuum out crumbs (I know it’s not just me).
Clothes: Wash everything, especially baselayers. Bacteria love that sweaty funk.
Helmet & goggles: Wipe with a microfiber cloth. No harsh chemicals, please.
🧊 2. WAX ON, BUT DON’T SCRAPE OFF
This one’s pro-level.
Give your skis a thick coat of storage wax. Don’t scrape it off!
It protects the base and edges from drying out and rusting.
Come next season, scrape it off and you’re good to go. Glide city, baby.
✅ Try this wax on Amazon: Swix F4 Universal Glide Wax (easy, quick, cheap)
📦 3. CHOOSE THE RIGHT STORAGE SPOT
Your skis don’t like heat. Or humidity. Or pressure. (Relatable.)
NO attics, garages, or car trunks.
Aim for a cool, dry closet or gear room.
Store skis horizontally or standing upright. No pressure on the camber.
Keep boots buckle-closed, loosely so they hold their shape.
🧳 Bonus tip: Throw a dryer sheet in each boot. Keeps things fresh.
🧰 4. ORGANIZE IT LIKE A CHAMP
Now’s the time to upgrade your setup.
Here are some awesome Amazon picks to keep things neat:
🛠️ Ski wall rack – StoreYourBoard Wall Rack
Keeps your skis safe and sexy on the wall.🎒 Boot dryer & warmer – PEET Boot Dryer
Saves your liners and kills bacteria. Worth every penny.🗃️ Gear organizer – Ultrawall Ski Storage Rack
Holds skis, poles, helmets, and more. Future you will thank you.
🧠 5. MAKE A “FIRST RUN” BOX
Future-you is gonna LOVE this move.
Label a plastic bin: “OPEN FIRST”
Toss in:
Lift pass lanyard
Baselayers
Favorite neck gaiter
Go-to goggles
Any notes for next season (“get new gloves!” or “bring hand warmers!”)
It’s like sending yourself a hug in a box.
BIG LESSON?
The way you treat your gear now = the way your gear treats you next season.
Spring skiing’s not over everywhere, but it is the right time to prep.
Wrap the season with care, love, and a little Febreze.
And when that first powder day hits next winter, you’ll be ready before the traffic even starts on the 15.
🗯️REPEATABLE PROVERB:
🧣 “Put your skis to bed like royalty, and they’ll treat you like a king on day one.” 👑🎿
Which storage tip do you swear by?
👇
Drop your gear hacks in the comments, hit that star to save this list, or share it with your ski crew so nobody stores their boots in a sauna.
Let’s ride smart, even when the lifts stop spinning. 💪⛷️
Stay stoked, stay smart, and for the love of skis, don’t store your boots in the trunk.
