Snow’s Gone? Game On. The SoCal Skier’s Summer Survival Guide
Off-Season Doesn’t Mean Off-Duty—Your Guide to Summer Ski Life, Sasha-Style

For SoCal skiers who don’t believe in off-seasons
❄️ Final Turns, First Tricks: Let’s Ride This Wave of Snow Energy
This is not goodbye. This is see you at the glacier.
But yes, if you haven’t carved your final line yet—Mammoth’s last day is this Sunday, June 15. Say your sweet slope goodbyes. Do your “just one more” lap. Snap that chairlift selfie.
And then? We pivot. Because being a skier isn’t about the calendar. It’s about the grit in your glutes and the wax in your soul.
Summer’s here. Time to ski like a rebel. 🏄♂️⛷️
🌍 Where to Find Snow After June
The lifts may close in SoCal, but the snow’s just getting started… somewhere.
Here’s where to chase it:
Mount Hood, Oregon – Snowfield dreams at Timberline. You’ll be sharing runs with Olympians and 12-year-old park rats who can backflip.
Whistler Blackcomb, BC – Skiing in shorts is encouraged. Horstman Glacier has sunshine, slush, and the best après croissants this side of the Atlantic.
Ski Portillo, Chile – It’s winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Big mountains, dreamy corn snow, and steeps that’ll make your knees whisper “why?”
Valle Nevado, Chile – Snow + ceviche. Ride the Andes, soak in hot springs, sip red wine with fellow snow romantics.
💪 Off-Season Drills for Ski Legs That Slay
Summer is when legends are made.
If you wanna blast through bumps come January without popping a quad, you train now:
Step-Ups on a Cooler – Bonus points if it’s full of LaCroix.
Single-Leg Squats – Mimics ski stance. Do them while brushing your teeth = pro multitasking.
Lateral Bounds – Side-to-side jumps build agility for quick edge changes.
Bosu Ball Balancing – Your quads + core will thank you come first chair.
Downhill Hiking – Quads, knees, ankles... this is gravity’s gym.
Make it fun. Wear your helmet. Blast your slope playlist. Call it training—and boom, you're a pro.
🎒 Gear Swaps, Surf Dips & Glacier Flips
After Sunday, your gear doesn’t go in storage. It gets repurposed. It parties.
Do a Gear Swap BBQ – Trade skis, stories, and too-small boots.
Donate Old Gear – Youth programs need love too. Be the reason a kid learns to ski.
Dryland Ski on Sand Dunes – Glamis, CA. Skiing, but dusty. Bring goggles.
Surf as Cross-Training – Core, legs, balance. Same game. Different board.
Freestyle Camp It Up – Timberline or South America. Get coached. Get stoked. Get humbled by a 13-year-old.
🎓 The Big Lesson
You don’t “lose” ski season. You recalibrate.
You swap goggles for shades and turn dryland into your dojo.
You chase snow, train harder, and find new ways to feel like a skier year-round.
Off-season is a myth. You’re not off. You’re upgrading. 💥
