Hey SoCal ski fam, ⛷️🌞

Here’s everything you need to know about what’s open, snow conditions, and the latest updates for navigating this La Niña season.
1. Thanksgiving Snow Report: Mammoth and SoCal Ski Resorts Are Open! 🦃❄️
Mammoth Mountain: 🏔️ California’s crown jewel for early-season skiing is delivering! With higher elevations boasting strong coverage from recent storms and snowmaking, Mammoth has several runs open with a mix of natural and machine-made snow. A perfect choice for Thanksgiving weekend if you’re ready for a longer drive.
Mountain High: 🎉 The first resort to open in SoCal this season (on Nov. 22) continues to serve up top-to-bottom skiing on 3-4 trails. A 12-24” base and nightly snowmaking ensure solid conditions.
Snow Summit: 🛷 Open daily with beginner and intermediate runs prepped for Thanksgiving laps. Snow Summit’s dependable snowmaking and reopening of SR-330 make it an easy choice for a holiday outing.
Snow Valley: 🚨 Opening for weekend operations starting Nov. 29. Mark your calendar for a post-Thanksgiving shred!
Bear Mountain: ❄️ Still TBD on its opening date, but snowmaking continues. Check their updates regularly!
2. La Niña’s Influence: What to Expect This Winter❄️
This season’s La Niña pattern is expected to bring drier conditions for Southern California. While that might mean fewer powder days, here’s the good news:
Mammoth’s Altitude Advantage: Mammoth tends to outperform in drier years thanks to its elevation, making it a reliable pick for consistent snow.
Cold Nights for Snowmaking: Resorts like Snow Summit, Mountain High, and Snow Valley are fully leveraging their snowmaking capabilities to ensure great conditions.
Flexible Planning is Key: Early-season storms have already brought snow, so keep an eye on forecasts and be ready to pounce when a storm rolls in.
3. Thanksgiving Skiing Tips: Make the Most of the Holiday Weekend 🎉
For a Quick Trip: Mountain High and Snow Summit are your best bets for quick turns and manageable drive times.
For Reliable Conditions: Mammoth Mountain offers the most consistent snow and variety of terrain if you’re up for a road trip.
For Post-Holiday Fun: Plan ahead for Snow Valley’s weekend opening on Nov. 29—perfect for a post-Thanksgiving adventure.
4. Important Updates: SR-330 Reopens for Easier Access
Great news for SoCal skiers: SR-330 has reopened, making the drive to Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, and Snow Valley much smoother. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a full weekend getaway, this update is a game-changer. 🏂
